I love the r46 and these cars can be repared and used for more years until retirement. Its sad to see these beauties go. My favorite subway car.

I used to get sick of them on the C train cuz that was my primary train home, the Franklin Ave shuttle and A train were secondary and i liked exploring all the other trains and their car types, I was glad to c them on the J/Z for a change; now I kinda feel different since they're gone, it's also almost like my memories of riding them r fading. I like that the C train has more R46s and R179s, but I do hope one of these end up in the Transit Museum or sumthn, I kinda miss riding them, considering how they were the only square trains besides the R42s that I got the chance to experience seeing with my own eyes and taking to places.

That makes perfect sense to deliver the R211s. Sending them to 207 Street Yard is a better accessible way since it’s closer from Yonkers and can go straight onto the A line since it’s right there.

More drama than a Lifetime movie. Always wondered why these arent delivered by rail, on shop trucks pulled by a diesel instead of this.

My mom was a nurse in Hartford, CT and worked in the ER and OR when the big circus fire happened. My brothers and I weren't around (and neither was our dad), but when we were in high school she talked about the circus fire and what it was like to work in the hospital with all the burn victims and people flooding in. She said it was complete chaos. When she was telling us about her memories she began to cry and said she couldn't forget the smell of burned flesh or the parents looking for children who were either killed on the circus grounds or died in the hospital. That was truly the day that the clowns cried.

The R46’s have served NY for 50 years. An iconic subway car is now being retired forever. There’s more than 20 R211 sets now in operation on the A and C lines.

I know a lot of people hate the R46s but me personally I love the R46s I’ll miss them as I grew up riding on them on the A & C lines. I recently went to Broad Channel to catch the R46s running on the A & S lines to catch some of the final moments they have based out of Pitkin as they’re either getting swapped to Coney Island Yard or retired. I’ll miss the R46s one of my favorite subway types.

Ive never thought that #5962-#5965 would be another 4-car R46 train set with LED lighting to be retired instead of being sent over to the Coney Island Yard on the N, Q and W trains but ehh it’s whatever 😔 God bless the fleet of R46 train sets for being in service. May they be in a better place 1975-2025, 2026 or 2027

I hope the N/Q/W lines get the R211.

They are going to re enter service for another 10 yrs watch then r46 and r68 will retire a Yr apart like the r42 and r32
